Currently reading Penguins Stopped Play by Harry Thompson. It's a lovely book, and perfectly captures quaint English eccentricity combined with sharp humour.

I knew Harry, for a number of years. complex intelligent fellow, clever with a smattering of twat. As you can tell was passionate about his cricket though. He wrote about Tin Tin's author whose name escapes me now which was pretty good too.

Hergé.

I'm currently reading "The Passage" by Justin Cronin. It's a 'post-apocalypse, chosen one, bit spiritual' story about survivors of a plague that turns everyone into superfast blood-drinking badasses. I was sort of expecting not to like it but it's very engaging so far...

I loved this book!

Currently reading Catching Fire after watching the Hunger Games movie. Its perfect for the 11/1/3/5 and 7am feeds blergh.

Yeah Penguins Stopped Play was recommended in Shortlist this week and sounds good, I might have to give it a go seeing as I am broading my reading tastes.

I finished Blast from the Past last night, I was only half way through and then it suddenly all started happening and I couldn't go to bed till I'd finished it and it was well worth staying up for. I love Ben Eltons books because you can never guess the ending, even if you came up with 5 ways you think the book will end, it will end a totally different way that you would never have thought of.

I was actually sitting in a state of shock when I finished this last night as the last 5 chapters had so many twists and turns and I got so involved in it it actually made my heart race, made me mushy, made me laugh, made me cry and made my jaw hit the floor all in the last 30 pages (as well as the rest of the book, I was just shocked at the rollercoaster of emotions that is packed into the last bit) Absolutely 10/10, loved it!

Your timing is good. He is about to release the sequel if you are interested. Or has done recently, or something.

I always tend to have a couple on the go. Currently reading "Beyond Chutzpah: On the misuse of antisemitism and the abuse of history" by Norman Finkelstein. It's very interesting stuff.

I am also reading "Summer in February" by Jonathan Smith, who was also my English Teacher and Cricket Coach whilst at school. I've only just started the book, so can't really offer an opinion.

Finally I am reading "Dear Lupin - Letters to a Wayward Son" by Charlie and Roger Mortimer. I can't recommend it enough, and it harks back to a time when people took pleasure in constructing letters using that most beautiful of languages, to whit, English.

ooooooh good recommendation (the jewish one) shall purchase it!!
