The AA, more than doubling the price every year so that I have to go through the hassle of phoning up and threatening to cancel.

Why do utility companies take the piss out of their existing customers?
Just recived a renewal notice and thought it was a bit high, 6% increase on last year.
Checked their website, it should be far less,
Called them up, they explained that's an introductory offer for new customers, fair enough, but she immediately offered me 20% discount plus a load of other things for free bringing the price down almost 30%.
I know they hike the prices each year hoping people won't check, but once we invest the time we start looking around we're far more likely to find competitors who offer a cheaper or better service.

But kudos to Fresh Insurance who came in with a lower price this year, and £30 lower than the comparison websites who get paid that for the referral

There was a thing on TV the other days about power companies, new customers are put on a special cheaper rate, but once you have been with then for a while they switch you to something they call Standard Variable Rate. SVR is usually a much higher rate that you can get elsewhere.
It's worth spending an afternoon looking at domestic outgoings and phoning companies up. It is amazing the amount that can be saved.
I've got chickens in my back yard
