During his time as a councillor in the London Borough of Barnet, Coleman has built up a reputation as an outspoken supporter of car driving, leading Richard Littlejohn to label him a "hero" for introducing a policy of removing road humps when the roads of Barnet are resurfaced

I live in Barnet, speed humps are few and far between. I can forgive this man a lot on this effort alone. He does generally sound like a bit of a bellend though.

speed humps are annoying. They don't really stop people driving above the speed limit, they cause people to use much more petrol (slowing to a near stop to go over the hump then accelerating hard again) and vastly increase wear and tear on brakes, suspension system and subframe. Some of them are so f*****g humpy they scratch up the front of your car.
Since Roman times, civilisation has strived to ease transport by providing straight, well-surfaced roads, and yet some dick has the bright idea of ruining all those centuries of hard work with a clumsy, ineffective solution that causes more problems than it solves, yet people blindly go on making the same mistake over and over again.
However, this Brian guy sounds like a total dick apart from his views on speed bumps.
