Solarstone

Label: Black Hole Recordings
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance

Solarstone pops up on Black Hole with shivelight, the first foray into Solarstone's new album project. Although I've listed this as a trance record, its actually more electronica but with hints of trance incorporated into it. In fact, its more of a breaks/trance/electronica hybrid that shows a different side to Solarstone.

While it has the usual Solarstone ingredients, like ambient builds and a snappy bass-line, its quite different to, say, Seven Citiesor indeed anything on One, his last album project, which was released in three parts. This is Solarstone adapting his sound and turning out a track that is both enticing and entertaining; like his previous output and his many remixes for other producers.

shivelight is the first foray from his May 2025 album, innermost, to be released on Black Hole, and it shows listeners what to expect. Its an interesting track that transcends the trance genre and moves it into uncharted territory. Reminiscent of the stuff on Pure Breaks.
