It’s been a while since the last Iain Cross tune graced my promo inbox, so naturally I am delighted to see his return on quite possibly one of my favourite labels, GermanTrance.Com. It starts off with a weak kick and very percussion heavy, but this is only temporary as a short break gives a chance of a killer 303 to fade in, shortly followed by a very Germanic kick drum. I must admit it sounded a bit like an older FJ Project tune for a bit, which is ironic as he’s on remix duties for this!!!
The main riff is a stabby, on-beat affair that’s more Hardstyle than Hard Trance in my book, something which is compounded by the filthily hard lead that replaces this when it drops back in. It might not be Hard Trance per-se but I fucking love it! Needless to say it drops with plenty of power and is more than worth the wait.
On the remix duties is FJ Project, an Italian producer who first came to my attention with an EP on this very same label about 5 years ago. A very energetic and moving bass line is the focus of this remix. At first I was not quite sure what to make of it, but it certainly grown on me with repeat listens. A short break lets FJ do what he does best: Bring in some Acid wrongness. I cannot think of a single FL Project track that didn’t have killer Acid in it and this is no different. The breakdown is much more melodic and creepy as all the elements come into play, and just as it reaches a natural crescendo it suddenly and unexpectedly drops back in with that naughty bass again. Sounds like less of a Hardstyle track than the Iain Cross original and it’s certainly different enough to warrant taking a look at as well.
