No, this is not a track made about a stretch of road! It is in fact, short for Apollo 11 and comes to us on Trance National in Italy, which is run by FJ Project, with himself on remix duties.
The original mix is a tough, no nonsense trance track with plenty of balls. A tough kick and very crunchy clap begin proceedings, followed by a sub bassey arp and then a nice, low rolling bass. There’s lots of energy in here and most of it comes from the fantastic use of percussion and arrangement, but the good use of up filters and excellently balanced breakdown helps. The main breakdown features a synth to die for, gnarly yet uplifting, which makes the breakdown on its own; no pads here at all! A gem of a track!
On the flip is the FJ Project remix, which I was expecting to be tougher but if anything he turns in a slightly funkier mix. Ok so it’s a bit faster but other than that it’s a much more progressive type tune. It begins much the same as the original, only the bass sound and arrangement means it sounds like it was ripped straight out of a funky house track, and despite tons of snares being thrown in it fails to contain the energy of the original. The break contains the famous vocal of Neil Armstrong’s first walk on the moon, followed by John F Kennedy’s famous speech about space exploration that was used to far better effect many moons ago in Guyver’s “Man on the Moon” on Tidy Two. It’s certainly more groove based, and while it’s quite pacey it doesn’t really fit the sound of similar tracks of its ilk for me.
I have a terrible feeling that these tunes have been mislabelled and I have it the wrong way around, but lets just say, the one without the vocal is much better!
