Genre: Hard Trance/Hardstyle
The original is a slamming, kind of techy hard dance number. It’s certainly not Hardstyle, which depending on what your outlook is can be either a good or a bad thing. This one begins with a simple clap with shit loads of reverb and a slightly annoying vocal sample which says “that’s what being crazy is, gone down the road, wacko” or something. Once this is past though it gets much better; the bass is a crisp two note belter, the groove is top notch and there’s a some great FX and glitched sequences too. The break utilises another vocal sample that’s got a lot of delay on, along with a very nicely worked, almost random breakdown. The lack of any real riff doesn’t detract from the tune at all because the beats and FX are so well done, which means it’s always an interesting listen.
Next up is the Jan van Bass remix (please let that be a real name!). Now THIS is Hardstyle, and much more what I was expecting. The part of the vocal that was only used in the breakdown is used almost from the outset here. It’s been chopped though and fits in very well with the loud kick and clap combo. A short breakdown before the bass unleashes a sweet riff (the one thing I left that was sorely lacking in the original) before all hell breaks loose. Hard bass abound as things all of a sudden get very Dutch on us like only they know how. Fans of the genre will know what I mean!
The break begins with swooping pads and the full vocal, going for a much more obviuous euphoric tip, which doesn’t last long before another riff comes in followed shortly after by the beat. I enjoyed this far more than the original it must be said, which doesn’t happen often with Fausto tunes.
The last mix of offer here is courtesy of the Audio Psychos. What they’re offering is more Hardstyle, only this time faster and harder. A much darker lead than anything in the other 2 mixes takes control quite early, before a warped bass takes over. This is shortly replaced by a seriously nasty bass kick found in your nastier Hardstyle tunes and certainly cements it's place as the hardest track of the package.
The break again goes for uplifting pads and the vocal before the Hardstyle riff comes in and obliterates everything in its wake.
Not quite as good or subtle as the Jan van Bass remix, but still a jolly good effort.
