Ner0 records have discovered a bit of a gem in Aurora Project/The Sixth Sense. The guy sure knows how to knock out a tune, and these two are no exception.
Dream starts off with a heavy, almost industrial beat with rolling percussion and some dark sweeps in the background. The bass is a heavily side chained 2 note affair which is shortly joined by 2 types of subtle acid and a simple riff that seems to float over the top. This is soon joined by a stronger with that contains less but long notes. It fades down perfectly into the breakdown while the pads rise, followed by an unexpected but well executed break beat sequence. It keeps the energy up, but the more trance elite among you may argue with it would have sounded better without it, as the pads are very nice. Still, this doesn’t last long before the break beat leaves us, and gets replaced by the proper riff which slowly filters up. Some kicks and a ton load of snares later and it drops. Not the most energetic drop I have ever heard, but it’s decent none the less.
I was lucky enough to have been given a copy of Darkness Falls sometime ago, and whilst it has received a fair amount of plays, it was nice to get be given this to review. The bass here is a proper European monster, so stay well clear if that’s not your thing. The Synths start very shortly after the bass introduction, and the acid sound is practically identical to that of Dream. There’s much more energy in the riff and the overall layout has more drive to it I feel. The breakdown again starts with pads, this time they filter up before an aggressive break beat sequence. The main riff comes in after this and it’s well worth the wait. Again a deluge of kicks and snares come in before the drop, only this time it is much more energetic. Still rocks my world, and now that it’s coming out I get to rinse it out all over again!
Yay!
