Dizmaster – Insanity
The latest release on Doof Doof takes the shape of Insanity by Dizmaster, complete with a remix from God like producer Andrea Montorsi.
The original is a no holds barred Hardstyle track which uses a very well known vocal sample that has been used in more dance tracks that I could possibly name (you know, the “the end of the world is upon us” one). After a short intro sequence the vocal sample starts, followed by a slightly longer than necessary build. The tension builds before a monstrous off beat bass kicks in, along with the typical Hardstyle synths and claps, leaving you in no doubt as to what you’re listening to. This also doesn’t last long before it hits the main break, a very plinky, almost piano sound begins playing a simple yet effective riff. The drop is very unexpected, giving it plenty of bang for its buck, before again going into another breakdown that’s very similar to the other one. As much fun as this tune is I can think of any other track ever that spends so little time with a full beat behind it. It’s over a little quickly at barely 5 and a half minutes long, but what is there is excellent.
The Andrea Montoris Remix is not quite what I expected. Starting with a slightly wonky and very techy beat, it uses the vocal sample very early on, along with some excellent chopped sequences and a great mini build up that had me fooled on many occasions as to when the bass was going to hit. It may have a needlessly long intro, but when it drops you’ll see why. A moving bass over Montorsi’s trademark stabs, interceded by the vocal and great shuffling percussion makes for an excellent start. The main breakdown here is excellently worked, with an amazing sounding, slightly distorted riff, supported by subtle yet powerful pads. The percussion runs underneath this sequence for the most part so it never loses energy or gets boring, and needless to say the drop works very well.
Slightly better than the already excellent original.
