Those who like their trance will probably like this. Starting with more than just your kick and percussion usual, the atmospherics in use here are superior to most tunes I hear. With plenty of depth, from swirling acid, alarm bell type stabs and your more usual swirling uppers and downers, all before the bass drops makes this rich in depth. The bass is a fair standard off beat number that’s quite tough, but it’s quickly overshadowed by the power of the synths. There is a fill loop that was used by 4fach Zoom for Pixel One a couple of years ago, but other than that there is not much else I can fault this for. The breakdown has buckets of that summery feel to it, and whilst it may be too late to save our summer this year, I can see this working on the right dance floors. A cool break beat sequence contributes well to the main breakdown, which might be a bit long for some peoples tastes, but the drop doesn’t seem to flow from the breakdown as well as it could have done.
On the flip side is DJSA label boss Steve Andersons remix. Starting with the same swirling acid but not quite as many layers, it drops a sub bass after only 2 phrases, which had me fooled, because the full bass came in 2 phrases later, which really got my attention. The previously mentioned loop has been removed, seemingly in favour of a reverse cymbal. An early mini breakdown shows that none of the summer feel as been removed as it builds to the main breakdown. Here everything filters out apart from the pads, but is quickly introduces the main riff to keep things interesting. The drop back in works so much better than the original, even if technically there are two of them. An additional Piano which shows up shortly after the breakdown is just the icing on the cake for me, giving it that little something extra that maybe was missing in the original.
