» Desire/Now We Are Free

Reviewed by Dean Zone / Submitted 09-08-08 15:01

Label: Vision Control
Format: Digital
Genre: Trance/Tech Trance

New Trance label Vision Control has recently launched with a host of first wave tracks, the pick of the bunch being the Tech/Trance goodness from Kronnic.

Desire is a tough Tech Trancer with plenty of attitude, large kicks and an up-tempo arrangement. It builds pace swiftly with good use of synth stabs, before the uplifting pads filter down over the beat, taking things perfectly into the breakdown, which is laden with lush orchestral pads and a very well panned break beat section. The main riff spends most of the break filtered down before rising at the last second before it drops back in, and whilst it is a good one it does sound slightly generic. Overall though it’s an excellent attempt.

Now We Are Free is a slightly darker and much techier affair, with dark stabs and an ever darker sounding intro lead, but the key here is the subtle background noises that add to the dark atmosphere, along with the shuffling percussion. The bass is subtle but absolutely spot on, providing a devilishly dark undertone. The main break is very dark, mainly consisting of a swirling bass lead and an awesome, alarm sounding synth that gets the time stretching treatment. It’s a very different sounding tune from Desire, but it gets the darker feeling and nails it on the head.
