The Mr. Phillips remix of this tune gets out of the blocks quicker than Road Runner from a standing start, going building straight from the off and going to bass line in just over 30 seconds. Whilst it never feels relentless it’s constantly evolving and moving, and it keeps me constantly hooked every time I hear it.
It’s uplifting pretty much all the way, lush pads fading up, reaching a glorious crescendo before taking it back down again; simple but effective, especially when done so well. There are elements of tech-trance in this mix which set it apart from the Jorn van Deynhoven Remix. The bass can only be described as deep, the kick lacks any kind of “umph” but then it’s not really called for here, it isn’t Hardstyle after all.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a tune with such diversity of atmospherics to it, especially during the effortless breakdown. The riff it fairly simple and completely non-groundbreaking, but for a tune so well made I really couldn’t care less. It does what it needs to and a whole lot more.
8/10
For those of you who prefer your trance with a little less tech in it, this mix is for you. Whilst it doesn’t start quite as quickly, the end result is just as good. A really cool vocoded sound echoes throughout, which I am convinced is a vocal that has been FX’ed to death, but it sounds great! The riff is put to better use here with a superior synth, along with more traditional trance phrasing. The drop after the break is powerful and well worked, but there isn’t as much depth to this mix as there is in the Mr. Phillips mix. I do feel it also could have done with having slightly more driving percussion, because whilst the tune in itself is great, the percussion is pretty standard and I think that it loses a lot of drive and energy because of it. It is a massive shame, because this could have been outstanding.
