BK and Anne Savage

» Instantly / Jungalize

Reviewed by Jon Rundell / Submitted 08-02-02 11:37

Label: Nukleuz
Format: 12" Vinyl
Genre:

BK gets together with one of the leading ladies on the scene and comes up with two different tracks to wet your appetite. Savage has been playing more and more at the harder nights in and around London and has clearly been influenced by this in producing these tracks.

Instantly starts simply enough and builds and builds and builds. The percussion patterns add pace to the track and the melodic key changing bassline gives it an edge that is unfamiliar to this genre. As the pace of the track comes to a climax, enter the main riff, taking the track form a dark journey to a lighter one. The riff provides an element that gives the track the ability to become a strong record in every DJs box, its the effected noises that leaves the permanent mark on your mind and as the break builds back up, the track kicks back in and with every riff key change as does the bass, giving it a tough but lighter twist with some very uplifting chords behind them.

Jungalize on the flip is a dark techy track. This is music for 6am in a warehouse. Its rawness speaks volumes for the techno influence throughout this track. The emphasis here is on rolling beats, plenty of percussion and and a riding hi hat typical of a techno groove. Couple this with a solid driving bassline and a minimal riff pattern in the break and you have a track that bounds along at speed that takes no prisoners.
