Bang Face: the neo-rave revolution will not be televised!

Bang Face is a place where the best of early-nineties rave culture — the masks, toys, glowsticks and gurning — crashes head on into the high-tech music of the 2006 underground: wrong music, drum and bass, nu skool electro, and something called yardcore!
The result is one of the most insane dancefloor experiences in the UK today, as students, junglists, hardcore ravers and squat party wrong-folk all mosh in time to the sounds of legends like Altern 8, The Producer, CJ Bolland, Shy FX, Scotch Egg, Billy Bunter, Nick Blackmarket, Shut Up & Dance, the home-grown deck talent of residents like Saint Acid, and the wonderfully monikered DJ Pisstank.
It’s an unabashed musical mash-up that throws away the rulebook and just has one rule of thumb — anything goes, as long as it’s hard!
Turning this year’s psy-trance dominated Glade Festival into a Back to 1991 rave on the Saturday night, with the legendary Altern 8 heading the bill in the 5,000 capacity Overkill Stage, Bang Face are now on a mission to revive the rave. Heading the charge is promoter and front man Saint Acid and he takes five minutes out from being neo-rave’s hardcore general to talk to HarderFaster and tell you why the future is fierce.
Saint Acid
What is a Bang Face? How does one achieve this higher state of being?
Bang Face is either the birth of neo-rave or a pissed-up mash-pit. Just follow the arrows marked ‘Neo-rave euphoria’ and let yourself go.
Neo-rave euphoria at Bang Face
Who is behind the mask? 2006 — what the fuck is going on?
Anyone can be behind the mask and I haven’t got a clue what’s going on!
Why is now the time for a neo-rave revolution? Who is manning the barricades?
Bang Face is just an attempt to have fun whilst listening to up front dance music. Respect to the Hard Crew who keep the dream alive.
The Glade invasion — was this the most insane event in the life of Bang Face? How did it come about and what did you learn from the experience?
The Glade was awesome, we’re very grateful for the invitation to play. It allowed us to fulfil the ‘shoal of dolphins’ and ‘exodus of skeletons’ dream.
New skool vs old skool — who are the heroes on the battlefield and where is the line drawn?
Bang Face tries to bring together the sounds of old and new rave but that in itself blurs any boundaries, making everyone heroes.
Is gabba the next big thing?
It’s definitely the last big thing that happens at a Bang Face.
Production — whose holiday pictures are projected on the screens and who comes up the banners and art?
The pics and banners are courtesy of the Bang Face Hard Crew who email all the stuff in every month. Each party is themed according to something that happened on that day in history.
Is Bang Face the product of the mother of all crack-on after parties?
Bang Face is the product of living in a permanent dream world.
Electrowerkz is the spiritual home of neo-rave. Any plans to take the show
on the road a la Glade?
Well Electrowerkz is the fifth venue to tolerate Bang Face and we couldn’t be happier there.
The future is now. What’s on the horizon?
The only plan on the horizon is to keep the vibe alive.
The next Bang Face party is on Friday 11th August @ Electrowerkz.
