Hardcore Euphoria preview: rising talent, Mr Ron
Reported by Macavity

Anyone who’s been to Wired or Infectious will be familiar with the name Mr. Ron. 12 months ago he was one on the many thousands of djs confined to his bedroom, but since then he’s blasted onto the London hard dance scene. In less than a year he’s bagged himself residencies at the techstyle party Infectious, the Sunday party Wired, and even managed to tease the hallowed platters of the Es Paradis turntables in Ibiza.
Now together with Wired he’ll be bringing his own brand of acid-techno marinated hard dance to the second room at The Fridge at Hardhouse Euphoria on Saturday 22 October. Inspired by his Dad who was also an acid techno DJ ‘back in the day’ and the Godfather of filth Ian M, his trademark sets are notoriously ferocious. Processing a talent to match, Mr Ron is definitely a one of the harder edged young deck-meisters to keep on your radar, as you’re going to be hearing a lot more from him in the near future.
What’s your real name and where are you from?
My real name is Aaron. I’m originally from Essex but escaped to sunny Brighton a few years back.
What style of music do you play?
I mainly play the harder end of hard house and pop a bit of acid techno in there sometimes. Basically I just like to bang it out.
How long have you been DJing for?
About 5 years, but I’ve only been playing out for just over a year. I started off mixing speed garage on some old belt drives but soon turned to hard house after I started going to clubs like Freedom at Bagleys and Mind over Matter at Camden Palace.
Can you remember the first tune you bought?
Probably Nightcrawlers or some shit!
What’s been your big break in your DJ career up to now?
Being a resident for Wired and Infectious has given me the chance to play out regularly and really develop my style. Thanks to my good mates and fellow Essex c***s Baz and Glenn (Type 1) who gave me my first set, through playing for Wired I have had the opportunity to play out in Ibiza, and to be a part of what is going to be a legendary night — Hardcore Euphoria.
Tell us about your residencies at Wired and Infectious?
We used to do a night called Infectious at the Deep Blue which gave me the opportunity to warm up for Ian M and play alongside some of my favourite djs. As it was a joint venture with Techstyle I did find myself torn between the 2 arches — one was banging hard house and one filthy techno; both well having it. I have to say the hard house won out for me in the end!
I've been playing for Wired since it started up early last year and it’s been great to watch it grow in popularity. We now regularly ram the George out on a Sunday morning. People like the music we play and the dancefloor is always ‘having it’ right up until the end. I like to experiment with a bit of psy trance or maybe some pounding techno, as long as it’s hard and fast the crowd seem to like it! Well done to the Type 1 lads for building the party from scratch. It really is a great afterparty, despite the George toilets!
Where is the best places you've played so far?
Definatley Es Paradis! I played out there in June with the EZ Duzzit Crew, it’s a really beautiful club and the soundsystem was the nuts. In London it’s got to be Deep Blue — again a nice club with a good layout, and the atmosphere at the Infectious nights was wicked so I really enjoyed my sets.
Which are your favorite DJs?
Dave the Drummer production wise, Chris Liberator for always having a fat grin on his face, obviously the Type 1 lads (big up your mums), and Ian M, the Godfather of filth, to name a few.
Apparentely you’ve been weaned on house music as your Dad was into the scene?
It was actually acid techno! When I was a nipper I used to go to free parties with my dad and that’s where I developed a taste for harder music. He did parties with a rig called Techtonic where the music was really grimy 303-ridden acid techno, which I still love to this day.
Thanks to Aaron for his photography.
