Last Ever Fahrenhite - Review and Farewell! Reported by Andy T / Submitted 13-05-03 18:54 Wow where can I start ? Well I know I can say that Fahrenhite's last UK night definitely lived up to what is now the memory in our hearts and minds of London's longest running Hard House night. When I found out I was shocked I couldn't believe it until I read it and spoke to Aaron, my favourite club taken away. I know the majority of HF's like the larger clubs and don't get me wrong I'm there as well, but to me its not necessarily about having the No. 1 DJ's or the biggest capacity. "Its about music" atmosphere and meeting people. For me and I know others will agree there is no atmosphere that compares to Fahrenhite not just at 5 in the morning but all night long. The place rocks from start to finish. The mixing is always tight and with DJ's like Steve Blake, Matt Clarke and not to mention all Fevah DJ's and the many, many others old and recent who have devastated the floor with the hardest of dance music. It has been going for so long and I guess all good things must come to an end but I know that with all the Frantic's, Superclubs, Festivals, Weekenders, Fahrenhite bought relief to hardcore clubbers who wanted a clean friendly environment and the best of tunes, and will be greatly missed. I spoke to many people that night all telling me that they had only just found out and they wouldn't miss the last night for the world. Personally I would do anything to do that night and all the others again. When we walked in at Eleven I went straight to the decks and they were already at +7. Nice I thought to myself were going to have it tonight ! On the decks was Nadya Vs Laurz both these lovely ladies delivered a series of classics Music is Moving went down a treat and some older trancier tunes a lot faster. Full of confidence they certainly started the night off well. Soon to follow was one of my favourite Fahrenhite regulars 'Big Dog' Vs Sjann. Back to back they again played tune after tune, Big Dog playing one of my best tunes Barbwire 3 (a rare bootleg of TDV's I dont Care.) Like I say Big Dog is a personal favourite of mine and I'll come back to him later. Then what I was waiting for Steve Blake. This man is my favourite DJ. He always has such style when he mixes always so happy and keen to get the crowd going plus he always plays the tunes that you want to hear. I spoke to him before he played and he too thought it was a shame about Fahrenhite moving abroad. Steve played with the owner and founder Eamonn Fevah for the last time at Fahrenhite UK and they certainly made their last set a belter of tunes. It must have been slightly emotional for Eamonn since he started the club so long ago and has seen it grow to what it had become over the years, but to keep your mind with new challenges you have to focus on other things and this is why Fevah is now going to Focus on other things. Then the night got harder with Skol and Mat Clarke again pounding out beats fast and furious. When the night had to end I walked off to my car realising that I would never have the chance to do this again and the only thing that kept me from feeling down was the energy I had left in me from leaving the club. Now the 'magic' and the great time I had that night has past I can only feel sorry that the club is no more. The reason why I loved it so much is simple, there's always the best people there everytime I have been its been I've come out and said that's the best night ever until the next time I went. It has a certain Magic sounds silly if you have never been but if you had then you would know. The first time I ever went to Fahrenhite I was amazed that I had never been. I danced all night, and I was astounded by both the speed and quality of the tunes. Hard and Fast all night, and saying that it was actually a HarderFaster night !!! Steve Blake gave me a copy of 'I get a Rush' and he signed it as well. I must say well done to the security as well personally I'm an fan of strict searches it warns off trouble makers. But I have never been so willing to be searched, its funny what a smile and a good attitude can accomplish. They have also proved they are more than capable in an accident or emergency. Without the DJ's though the night would not be complete. Although they never have the DJ's from most large events, people like Matt Clarke, Skol, Marc French, Shark Boy, Dave Holmes, Tom Allen and other DJ's from our own Harder Faster stormed the floors with tune after tune each time. The good thing was is they had a completely different line up every week so there was always different styles each night not just the same old same old stuff over and over. One of my Fav's was Big Dog I hope to see more of him over the next year. So passionate about his sets and he plays such hard music you really want to hear and couldn't hear anywhere else. A lot of the music was produced by Fevah DJ's and others and tested there. I remember hearing Dan Madam's Feel the Fear when it was unreleased and the mighty forthcoming Escalation one of the first times it was ever played. The DJ's would always talk and you could always easily ask them what tunes they were spinning if you couldn't read the label yourself. Next to come to the mighty Steve Blake to see this man anywhere is always worth entry alone for me but at Fahrenhite he always delivered high energy pumping sets with a passion that only he can show to the crowd. We know you know this as well and we will all miss you at Fahrenhite. I spoke to Eamonn about why and he told me that basically he wants a change, they have just launched Fevah & Fahrenhite across seas in the USA so we all wish him the best of luck with that and for any details check http://www.fevah.us/ He did say that they would be keeping the label strong so good news for the dance floors, I know many of many favs are on the label including Steve Blake, Eamonn himself, and Prime Mover not to mention a huge amount of the industry's finest. It is indeed a mighty label and we look forward to its future releases. I know if I'm ever in the states I'll certainly check it out to see if it lives up to my memories, and I hope that it takes Americans to new levels of music cause you know no one has music like we do especially Fevah. And for Aaron without this man a lot of which wouldn't have happened. He was always there doing a job as well as putting on a good face and making people feel welcome. Promoting Fevah behind the scenes giving it an image as well as some sounds and a venue. I would also like to thank Aaron for all he has done for me a real genuine guy, and I hope not to lose touch. I would also like to add to the guys that we will be waiting eagerly for the return of Fahrenhite with open arms and when those doors open we will flood back in with more enthusiasm than ever before. Everyone deserves a break and to move on, but we sincerely wish you will come back to the Soundshaft someday, I couldn't imagine Fahrenhite anywhere else. Only really went to see my friend Laurz play, but had quite a good night before leaving at 3ish. I was very tempted to cut my losses and head to Heat when Big Dog came on though. I noticed he had been going into the DJ booth and pitching the decks up while the girls were on so thought he might start banging it out, but I don’t think there’s a need for TDV at around midnight (as good as Barbwire 3 is…). For me, Farenhite is an uplifting trance/hard trance night and his style didn’t suit at all. His set was rescued for me by Sjann who played some far better tunes.
