Landing at Inigo on Friday 6th April for our bank holiday special we have top class DJ, promoter, label-owner and Portsmouth fave Chris Vaux of Punchfunk fame coming down to rock your collective socks off! This man plays seriously good music; twisting together a potent mix of tech and electro house with lashings of funky techno for good measure. He’s responsible for setting up one of the UK’s brightest, most exciting parties and launched what is already a very successful record label with releases and remixes from the likes of Fergie, Trevor Rockliffe & Valentino Kanzyani. In amongst this he has become a rising star on the DJ scene with his groundbreaking tough, jackin’ and energetic sets.
PunchFunk the event was born in June 2004 in an intimate 150 capacity club. The rest as they say is history. The success of the night is testament to Chris’ hard work and endeavour, always seeking to improve and attain the highest possible goal. Being true to the music is something that means a lot to him and he has always maintained a consistent level of guest DJs including developing other talented local DJ’s. His sets are integral to the tapestry of any PunchFunk event and the foundation of what the brand name is all about. His unique sound of snarling, acid tinged, thumping house with licks of jagged electro-tech complimented with his energetic and varied mixing has won over many dance floors. Chris’ hard work and determination to take his sound to the people has now set him on the road to stardom with memorable sets at Slinky in Bournemouth plus, most notably, starring roles at both the Hi:Fi festival and Global Gathering. Not to mention storming sets at London clubs such as The Cross, Ministry, Turnmills, The Key and Hidden. Dates abroad have been coming through with a mini tour of Lithuania after his successful date in 2006 and also a date at Amsterdam’s finest club Panama alongside Sander Kleinenberg to come.
Chris also been busy in the studio with a new EP. ‘The Ho’ (his first release under the guise ‘THUG’) was released on PunchFunk Digital in September 2006 and has sold over 500 units to date. His new EP ‘Aim for the Head’ has been getting very good feedback so expect it to be rocking a club near you very soon. Make sure you’re down the front on the 6th to witness a future superstar DJ up close and personal!
