Lowprofile are a skate punk band from the four corners of Durban. With almost four years worth of countrywide shows, 2 CD releases and a jingle for South African radio legend Barney Simon's Tuks FM show under their belt, the band continue to relentlessly write, record and play a mix of classic melodic skate punk, ska, rock and more recently, metal. Despite an encouraging response to the self-produced Talk To Strangers album (2005), which earned interviews for East Coast Radio and Blunt Magazine, inclusion on an SL Magazine compilation and which introduced at least four songs most popular at live shows, the band have progressed towards a more polished style with stronger riffs and greater variation in songwriting. From the beginning Lowprofile disowned the generic post-grunge singing style favoured by many South African bands, a risky but influencial move which gave modern Durban punk it's distinctive sound. Watch out for "Wings! Don't Fail Me Now", the new Lowprofile music video which will debut on MySpace and Facebook in February.
