Setting sail for 2005, residents Clive Morley & Ladykilla are supremely proud to welcome on board the Stanton Warriors to Platform 12’s 1st Birthday Boat Party, Saturday 12 March.
After 3 monumentally successful parties in 2004, Platform 12 is setting up-anchor once again for their first super-fresh breakbeat boat party of the year. The event, which saw Krafty Kuts and The Freestylers appear last summer, is widely regarded as one of the best nights in London. In celebration of 1 year strong, Platform 12 have asked along their friends the Stanton Warriors, Paul Arnold and MC Xander to help push the boat out!
Fresh from their recent outing on Radio 1’s Essential Mix, the Stanton Warriors, have succeeded in not only bucking musical definition but have picked it up by the collar and kicked it’s ass out of the music world. The Stanton Warriors have carefully honed a distinct sound that carves up dance floors through all corners of the world sounding fresh and bringing something new to the party.
Joining them will be Platform 12’s much acclaimed residents, Clive Morley, Ladykilla and superstar-in-waiting MC Xander who exploded onto the scene last year after ‘performance of the festival’ type appearances at Glastonbury, The Glades. The MC ‘multi-vocalist’, who will also be appearing at Fabric later this month, also beatboxed and scratched his way on to DJ Magazine’s cover mount CD last year and is highly regarded as one of the most talented MC’s in the business.
Completing the line-up is Fat! Records’ boss, Paul Arnold who’s blazed a trail through dance music ever since he established London’s first breakbeat night, Breaking Point, where he virtually launched the careers of heavyweights such as Plump DJs and James Zabiela, and with the knowledge that comes from running the longest running breakbeat night in the world, Chew The Fat!... now in the main room at The End, he absolutely knows how to rock shop!
Offering some of the most unique views in London, the three tiered Dutch Master, with its completely open top deck is the perfect venue for the boat party. The vessel, which aims to get as far as the Thames Barrier before returning back, has two well-stocked bars, a chill-out room, a terrace and of course the main room which was left bursting at the seems last time round when Krafty Kuts whipped capacity crowds into a dancing frenzy.
Not one to end a party prematurely either – especially a birthday party - the Platform 12 crew have hired out a warehouse-style club not far from Tower Pier (where the boat departs / arrives) and aim to carry on the party right through until the next day with more heavyweight DJ action and a rare 4 decks, effects and vocals set from Clive Morley, Ladykilla and MC Xander combined.
