On Friday 21st August, The Gallery is proud to welcome back the incredible Hernan Cattaneo to Ministry of Sound for what is set to be another amazing three hours on the decks from the Argentine house hero. He returns for the second instalment of his summer residency, joined by production machine John ‘Quivver’ Graham; Bedrock’s very own Nick Muir and Gallery resident Gavyn Mytchel. US Star Steve Porter brings his inimitable Djing style to the bar with the support of veteran DJ Slacker, Rebekah and Steve Richards.
Hernan Cattaneo remains the biggest DJ export from his native Buenos Aires and continues to set dancefloors alight with his unmistakable sonic sounds. For the past few years he’s spent each summer in London, committing himself to an exclusive residency with The Gallery. That trend is already well under way in 2009 as Hernan makes his second outing this Friday night with a highly anticipated 4 Hour Set. Consistently ranked in DJ Mag’s Top 20 DJs, Hernan recently put together a new mix for Renaissance to celebrate their 50th release and as ever it’s always a pleasure to have him on chief deck duty this weekend!
Hernan will be joined by John ‘Quivver’ Graham who has made music through numerous alter ego’s including Quivver, Tilt, Stoneproof, Skanna, Space Manoevres and Globe. John is now based in Los Angeles and last year released his debut artist album as Quivver. Not only did he produce the album but he also sings on all the tracks and we’re thrilled to welcome him back to the booth for this next epic encounter. Also rocking The Box we have a special live set from Nick Muir best known for his work as one half of the Bedrock production team together with John Digweed. Nick has been involved in many pivotal moments in the world of club music and has in many ways helped to define the genres in which he has worked. Tracks such as ‘For What you Dream Of’ and ‘Heaven Scent’ under the Bedrock banner and his own ‘Stoneage’ as Floorjam are widely regarded as classics and still played all over the world. Our very own Gavyn Mytchel will round out this mammoth Gallery event with the big hands in the air finale.
The Bar will be headlined by the mighty Steve Porter who’ll be bringing us his unique blend of energetic, funked-up house and techno to The Gallery once again. Named as one of “America’s Best DJ’s” by DJ Times, Steve is one of our favourite djs in the Bar – who always, and we mean ALWAYS smashes it to pieces! Joining him will be the very talented Slacker. During his extensive years in the business, there isn’t much he hasn’t been involved with. As a constant performer on the globetrotting DJ circuit, Slacker’s signature sound is all about everything funky and progressive. Next up is Rebekah who brings her unadulterated raw talent and passion for underground house and techno to the bill, fresh from her recent warm up slots for the mighty Richie Hawtin no less! This week’s Bar bill (!) is completed by Steve Richards, with BDK going back-to-back with Matt Bishop. That leaves Another Wild Night to do their thing in the Baby Box and Beatfreakz to pump out the tunes in The Loft.
