Background
Updated 29-12-04 10:12
Craig Mac was born and grew up in Durban, South Africa.
He started DJ’ing at the age of 15, mostly playing house parties and school disco’s. Craig Mac first residency was two years later at a club called “The Sands” in his hometown. The music policy was “high energy” and the most popular label at the time was ZYX! Getting good tunes was not easy, as they had to be imported from Europe and the UK. As a result vinyl became more expensive and less popular.
From 1985 to 1995 he continued to play in numerous clubs around South Africa, as well as owning three of his own clubs. In 1996 he decided to move over to the UK and settled in London.
Craig Mac spent the next two years as resident DJ at “The Sports Café” as well as doing various guest spots around London.
Since then he has become more involved in the underground scene, and has played in line ups with some household names like BK, Andy Farley, Skol, Roosta, Matt Clark, Paul Glazby and Billy “Daniel” Bunter to mention a few. His playing style is mainly bouncy to hard uplifting house but he is also known for his versatility and will play whatever it takes to make you smile!
